Someone's being a sarcastic asshole :D

This is also a way to keep up the rouse that Odysseus is actually more of Homer than an Odysseus. I mean, we see how bad he is at fighting, right? He's had more years to practice than Rin...and she's already catching onto it XD Though, I guess he did finally hit his mark last Act...

I just gotta keep him telling these stories XD It's a major theme of his, and we will see more of this in the future as he gets more comfortable with talking about what all is happening in the future. I don't want to just "info" dump, I'd rather have some well placed flashbacks for the story's sake :3

Black background indicates we're moving into a scene that has happened. At the end of this Act, I think I'm going to have a "refresher" timeline to make sure we're all on the same page with when each scene is happening. Especially since I just got the new pages posted here on CF.

Maybe this is more to make sure I AM on the same page XD

Enjoy, and thanks for reading. I don't think I say that enough :3

This week is a video I've held off on for a whole month, because other things came up I wanted to discuss. I am also posting a "Friday Night Video," where I get a little emotional because I'm pissed at YouTube. But, as it's not particularly related to this comic or my art in general, I don't feel I should post it's kinda long...(like 47 minutes long).

I figure why subject you all to that? If anyone's interested, feel free to check it out at 8pm. Otherwise, just enjoy this video, where I gush about some of my favorite creators of whom I feel have helped me improve making comics :D I plan to do some other lists in future, too.

I have so many ideas...and so little time XD I guess it's better to have too many ideas than no ideas at all XD XD

You know what they say...

Also, you're welcome! XD I will be doing other lists of more artists in the future :)

Is that something like her badge of recognition by the spirit world or that she was chosen? Other than the cool change of clothes ;)

Edit: Uh-oh! Incoming wall of text! XD

I can't talk about the lotus itself, without giving spoilers. What I will say, is for Shimi, Rin, Yulie, and Kanna, when they awoken, the lotus appears.

That is all I will say about that :3 But...I will say, you may have noticed the crystals are not seen while they are talking to the Dragon people. Is that important? Could be ;)

Since it may not be explained for a long time, when their power is released and they "transform" into their "magical girl" (or boy/guy/etc) they subconsciously create their own outfit which appears :3

Which is why Kanna, who is not Japanese, ends up in a kimono. So Rin is actually part Japanese, but she'd always romanticized the fantasy versions of The Arabian Nights, as well as East Indian garb. So when she transformed, her outfit looks like her idea of what that would look like. None of their clothes (at this time) are going to actually represent any culture, because they're all just the individual's conception of what that outfit looks like :3

(Is this the writer coping out and saying "mistakes are the characters, not the artists!?" XD I hope not! But it is a convenient excuse, isn't it? The outfit is wrong because teenagers stereotype! XD XD No, no, if they're wrong it's because I'm inadequate as the artist XD I'll own it. Some of the time. Kanna's should be fairly accurate, since she's studied the clothes a lot. Rin's is just a crazy mishmash of what she likes, which fits her chaotic personality.)

But Kanna's always been interested in Japan, getting snippets of the culture from Rin's family photos (which we'll go into more eventually). So she's always wanted a kimono of her own :3

When she "re materialized" onto our plane from where she traveled to see the dragon man (whiiiiiich is a little confusing, I'll admit. But it was essentially the "spirit" or "soul" plane—only energy was allowed there, hence why they always appear nude), her own magic created that outfit for her, because it's something she'd always pictured herself in.

To be more...clear, the power of their own soul energy strips away whatever is not a part of their body, in order for their "pure being" to enter that plane. So bye bye clothes! They're never getting them back XD That's why she no longer has her rosary, either (this time, it's not because I forgot to draw it XD XD).

Yulie, who is fairly well read, always created a strange mixture of Chinese-inspired to fantasy inspired clothes for himself. We'll learn more about him as a person, and some of his beliefs as the story moves on, too. At this time, he's agnostic, leaning towards Buddhism and flirting with Taoism. But he's not opened up about any of that yet :3

There's a character I'm suuuuper excited to have transform, because their outfit is going to be soooo frickin' different from the others XD XD

But it's all tied to their psyche and the things they like and would desire to wear or conceptualize :D And Kanna's always, secretly, been very interested in Japan. Even as she accidentally stereotypes her friend.

I plan to have some actual transformations later, but for the first awakening, they had to meet their will just say their special dragon person XD I am also nervous, because I want to do the transformations justice.

Rin didn't fully transform for this battle. Which will be important to note: she was drawing some power from the lotus, not entirely from herself...which MAY be an important distinction later on ;)

So her clothes were the same from before the battle :3

Partially, I would say ;)
Clothes also make the character and all that. I doubt there is not any preference in some way unless you are drawing illustrations for the National Geographic or some kind of text book, lmao.

If you can pin it completely on the character then I guess it is a sneaky bonus!

And it is not like the opposite does not happen regularly as well. There are many VNs that clearly take place in Japan and have a Japanese cast but suddenly with German or Italian names. With the explanation that "grandfather wanted that for his grandchildren because he was weird and read a lot of foreign literature". In other words: The author did ;)

Very early Metroid illustrations and guide books showed Samus as tall, muscular, heavy woman in sports underwear and in detail explained how her power suit fits her, how it requires strength (with some sci-fi tech of course) and showed how she is standing on small metal platforms inside the suit.
Then in 2004 they suddenly revealed that no, she is actually pretty slender and in that blue Zero Suit that actually interfaces with the power suit and receives commands on how she wants to move and she can summon and unsummon it at will. How? Ancient Chozo technology.
Or maybe just what the artist hired for the GBA game wanted and it stuck ever since for obvious reasons ;D

True! I definitively like to design things that interest me :3

I heard that about Samus! I dunno, I think I like both. I think as a soldier, it's probably more realistic the old way, but I think both character designs have good sides ;3
