Just a normal night in the Miller household.

I'm trying to make it look like Ryan's roots are showing...he's not a natural blonde ^-^ He bleaches.

"Meh. School is fine." should be voted as the top generic answer to a question but then usual parent questions could also be all mostly called generic. I mean, students hardly answer that in another way? If school is okay then school is okay. School is also okay when school is not okay. When school is critical then school is somewhat okay.

I usually could always say "school is okay" for real. Bro was that student who outright stated the status quo even if it meant saying: "I effed up really really bad."
Not that anyone ever cared (other than me in which case I sat down with him) but that is an entirely different point :D
Just hoping this an actually functional family, haha.

It's good you were there for your brother :) I was glad my sis offered when I was being picked on (she was 3-4 years older than me--depending on the time of year.) She never ended up helping, cause I was still in Middle School...but it was nice to know she had my back.

Ryan's total grunge, so he don't care 'bout nothing! But they're a pretty close nit family. Rin's parents are pretty laid back, but not to the extent that they don't care what's going on in their kids' life (but, Rin's sister is like 5, so her mom has her hand full.)

Kanna's family is more conservative, and her only older sib was studying abroad in Germany, but died in a plane wreck on the way home for the holidays. He was 6 years older, and it was in 1996 (this takes place right now in 1999.) It doesn't really come up much in the comic until maybe later, if that. I may make mention of it...I haven't really decided yet.

I always write a textbook for responses. Sorry about that!

lmao, I am not really sure what you are apologizing for :D

Yup! And still am, haha. But that is beside the point!

Okay, so let me get this straight because I think I confused myself last time actually!
Their parents have no idea whatsoever about anything and not even the slightest clue some otherwordly forces even exist. They are absolutely normal common family, right?

Yes. At this point in May of 1999 no one knows anything about magic, dragons, or anything weird. At the turn of the century, all hell breaks loose, but at this point that's months away. Everything is pre-apocalypse right now.

Act 2 had a "flash forward," just to introduce Odysseus. Though, I'm in the process of revamping act 2 & 3. It won't be necessary to go back and reread it, but I'm changing things up to make more sense, fix the TERRIBLE drawings, grabbing things from Act 3 and just changing some of the order...giving more characterization, too, and dates.

For this reason, once I finish toning the Act 1 revamp, I won't be posting new revamp pages here until both Acts 2 & 3 are complete. But, it's all the same story, so it won't be necessary to go back and read those to know what's going on with the regular updates :3

Your feed back has been very helpful, and I've been keeping things in mind as I revamp to make things clearer :)

Oooh! Now THAT I needed to know. Well into the story but hey, happens! :D

*adjusts Columbo tie*

This is what I think happened here. When I started reading way back when, based on the comic description I thought the bad stuff already transpired. Then you suddenly disappeared for like a year? I lost the track and then asked for a recap but then you like disappeared again, lmao :D
Nothing wrong with that but since then I guess I thought the world is already effed but functional so it was weird they have no clue about magical things.
Now it is all clear, haha! Maybe the edits you are doing help with that as well?
Just one more thing: The year 2000 is when Mr. Horse is coming back, correct?

That is all good! Friend told me it keeps the author honest. Dunno :D

Yeah, I had terrible jobs that kept me working 8 to 8, or 6 days a week. I kept getting exhausted cause of the schedule :*(

This time, for the flashback, I'm making the borders black, and I'm moving the beginning of Act 3 up to where the girls demand an explanation from Odysseus to be the beginning of Act 2. Then when he starts talking about what happened, it makes more sense. I will cut the flashback in half (to make it a "cliffhanger,") and the second part of the flashback with be the start of Act 3, then the end of the current Act 3 will stay where it is. Though, it's going to be again a little different.

Nice tie ;) Columbo was fun.

As for the horse, he isn't the cause of the apocalypse: the genocidal terrorist group do that, and then the war that ensues uncovers where Keisuma was entrapped, awakening her and giving her the opportunity to lure someone into the ruins that have been exposed. Even in the "current" future, he hasn't been summoned yet, since Kahnma won't talk (the faerie chick at the beginning of this chapter that has the wings.) This I also didn't make clear, so I'm fixing that.

I wrote most of these early acts back in 2003/4 when I was a college student. I should have fixed things and updated them a lot sooner, but I was just under the assumption, get it done and fix it later. I don't regret it, but I wish I'd had the chance to learn more about comics while in college :/ I've had to do so much research on my own, and I still am learning. But...I can say the changes I've made so far I'm decently happy with :)

First, you do not apologize for that. Sorry if it sounded like I wanted a reason. I just stated I lost a bit of track back then. Happens. Life happens.

Second.
"As for the horse, he isn't the cause of the apocalypse:"
Good to know! I think that clears up the rest of it :D

Oh, no, you didn't sound like you wanted an apology. I just wanted to offer it up. I personally feel about it.

Glad I could help out with that :D

Nice to see a domesticated, hum-drum scene away from the supernatural chaos surrounding their lives 😊

Thank you! It's going to be a comparison to Kanna's home life :3 (Actually, I think we're gonna see a scene from her house...in either Act 7 or 8...I can't remember o_O)

I see Rin's enjoying some Animorphs there. I never read the books myself, but I did watch an hours long video on the lore of the entire series. They are quite some heavy shit for children's books.

Good eye there!

OMG! My best friend LOVED those books when we were in school. I read a couple of them, and I enjoyed them, but I never read the whole series. I was more into fantasy when I was younger, so when the same author, K.A. Applegate, wrote a series called Evermore, I was stoked because I enjoyed how she wrote. I owned all of those up until last year when I finally gave them up to move :*( Too much stuff...

But my friend and I would share books all the time, and that's my little nod to her (she really inspired a lot of this story, unbeknownst to her XD)
