Geez, I forgot to put an author's note.

I am soooo bad with attack names. I have a list of water-like terms, but I didn't want to use the best ones yet. :/

She hasn't graduated to ice based attacks yet.

"Oceanic wave" seems pretty solid to me though. I do not know what tiers water attacks have but it sounds like something advanced. I mean, she could have just summoned a basic water spout or slammed him with a water cannon but this is like one level before Tsunami :D

Okay, glad the name might work :D

Rin's feisty, but she's mostly a pacifist (at the moment--the war will change that.) She's not prepared to attack, so she's using her magic to create a water barrier around herself (that will be evident in the :3 I thought cascading waves would work well as a barrier (ooo...cascading...I need to write that down. Maybe I'll change it to that! Why didn't I think of "cascading earlier?)

Hm. So water powers are defensive and ice powers are offensive? I guess I can see that working and why she has not learned ice magic yet.

Well, not all water powers are, this is just her mind set right now. She's not prepared to hurt anyone, so her powers are being used defensively. She will have water attacks--just not yet. She's doesn't realize the stakes yet. And for a lot of people...it's hard to get themselves to hurt someone.

Not related to this, but when I was maybe...13 or 14, my best friend/cousin and I got into a physical fight. But...it was the silliest, most ridiculous fight ever, because we didn't really want to hurt each other, so it was just slapping each other's shoulders and shit XD And after we got over it, we laughed so hard about how dumb the whole thing was. We were fighting like Kip and Napoleon Dynamite XD

Ah! Okay! I guess I thought about it that way because of your comment on her lack of ice attacks!

The following is just a thought and not what should happen. Just to be clear about that, haha. Plus since you are talking about fights.
"it's hard to get themselves to hurt someone"
I think it depends on what kind of situation you are in. If for instance a family member starts choking you in your sleep then a hard swift reactionary kick where it hurts is the thing on your mind no matter who the person is.
Just as if you get attacked by a thug who wants to beat you up at night and hits you. You react by slugging him one as well. Unlike what movies say, even a tougher guy staggers and backs off when punched in his mouth. Long enough for your to beat it. People underestimate what adrenaline does to your body and allows you to do for a brief moment.
So... These guys simply popped up and actually said they want to kill them or at least her friend. A good smack with a focused stream of water would do them good :D

True, true. Adrenaline can do come crazy things! Or, I should say people running on adrenaline are capable of crazy things.

The problem with these guys is they just won't listen to her, since they've seen the future and just think she's naive (which, she is. But they don't know about Shimiko...so in a way, they're naive, too.)

It's a classic case reactionary action taken without thinking. Maybe if they'd "held their horses," they could have avoided an ugly fight. But, sadly, they don't.

I'm hoping later their actions will be seen as more, understandable...but they are definitely out of line here attacking a bunch of kids, which is going to be made clear :/

As I said: It is fine. Just got me thinking about a bunch of stuff. But it makes sense in their case because if I get it right then they are trying to prevent unfavorable situation in the future and this is an action thing so they simply duke it out using magic :D
